Tuesday 13 May 2025 - 12:00pm to 5:30pm
Description
Join us for the forum on Discussing Humanitarian Visa Policies: global perspectives, solutions and challenges, an event organised by the members of the Mapping Humanitarian Visa Policies in Brazil, an ESRC-UKRI-funded project, a partnership between the 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ of Sheffield, the Federal 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ of São Carlos (Brazil), and the 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ of Southampton.
In this event, we hope to bring together experts from both Brazil and the UK to comparatively discuss what ‘humanitarian visas’ (HVs) and safe passages mean in both contexts, their uses and challenges, their interconnections with asylum, and the future of ‘visas with a humane face’. We hope to bring a Brazilian perspective on Humanitarian Visas to the UK, build a sustainable network of academics worldwide that study or work with HVs or ‘safe routes’, and co-construct a collaborative research environment.
